Job summary

Appalachian Agency for Senior Citizens is seeking a driver to transport participants to various destinations using the agency vehicle. You will assist with boarding and alighting, maintain safety, and monitor participant needs during transit.

Applicants should have a valid driver’s license, be able to pass DOT and background checks, and complete required trainings such as PCA/CNA, First Aid and CPR. CDL with passenger endorsement is a plus, though not required.

Qualifications

• Valid driver’s license and driving record required.
• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Ability to read, write and communicate effectively.
• DOT physical, drug and alcohol test, criminal background check and agency driving test required.
• One year experience with the elderly preferred.
• CDL license not required but preferred with passenger endorsement.
• Training in PCA/CNA, First Aid and CPR may be required.
• Wheelchair lift operation training and related safety procedures.

Responsibilities

• Transport ambulatory and non-ambulatory participants by agency vehicle to various destinations.
• Assist participants on and off vehicles and ensure comfort and safety.
• Stay alert to participant needs and maintain safe operation of the vehicle.
• Maintain accurate records as part of the job duties.
