Job summary

Saint Peter’s Healthcare System in New Brunswick, NJ is seeking a Per Diem Patient Flow Coordinator to manage patient admissions, bed assignments, and movement within the hospital. The role involves coordinating with recovery rooms, ED, and receiving units to optimize patient flow.

The coordinator will monitor flow issues, inform leadership of delays, and collaborate with Care Coordination on ambulance transfers and discharges. Strong communication and detail‑oriented skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Three (3) years of prior experience in a role requiring accuracy and attention to detail.
• Medical Terminology is a plus but not required.
• Excellent customer service skills, including tact, diplomacy and sensitivity.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Demonstrated ability to work in a culturally diverse setting with diverse contacts, both internally and externally.
• Able to perform general system computer skills; familiarity with MS Office applications.

The Patient Flow Coordinator Per Diem will:

• Assign patients to appropriate floor, bed type, and status based on criteria identified upon admission or physician orders.
• Notify the receiving units of the patient admission particulars and bed assignment.
• Continually assess the patient flow situations and notifying the appropriate persons when there are flow issues and delays in movement.
• Assure that director, nurse managers and directors are kept aware of related clinical and operational issues (discharges, admissions).

Salary Range: 18.47 - 28.61 USD

We offer competitive base rates that are determined by many factors, including job-related work experience, internal equity, and industry-specific market data. In addition to base salary, some positions may be eligible for clinical certification pay and shift differentials. The salary range listed for exempt positions reflects full-time compensation and will be prorated based on employment status.
