Job summary

Med-Metrix is seeking a Patient Advocate to assist uninsured and underinsured patients in accessing financial assistance programs. You will complete applications, collect documents, and coordinate with agencies to secure SSI/SSDI and hospital charity care.

The role requires on-site work at various client sites in Florida and periodic travel. Strong communication, problem-solving, and Microsoft Office proficiency are essential, with a focus on HIPAA compliance and high productivity.

Qualifications

• High school Diploma or equivalent; healthcare-related degree preferred.
• 2–3 years of customer service experience.
• Bilingual in Spanish (spoken and written) a plus.
• Willing to travel to client sites as needed.
• Reliable transportation for on-site attendance.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Good problem-solving and investigative abilities.
• Demonstrates integrity, dependability, and urgency.

Responsibilities

• Assist patients with MA, hospital charity care, and SSI/SSDI applications.
• Interview patients at bedside and in the Emergency Room to assess eligibility.
• Identify required documents and eligibility.
• Submit and track applications with local assistance offices.
• Provide support for Marketplace insurance when applicable.
• Maintain accurate records and meet productivity goals.
• Verify and update insurances.
• Protect PHI and comply with HIPAA standards.
• Follow Information Security and HIPAA policies at all times.
• Limit PHI viewing to the minimum necessary.
• Perform duties across multiple client sites as needed.
• Other duties as assigned.
