Job summary

Qualifications

  • Minimum: High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Preferred: Associate degree.
  • Certifications: BLS, M.A.B, and Certified Patient Access Course with Specialist Exam within specified timelines.

Responsibilities

  • Explain hospital policies to patients and obtain required consents.
  • Determine patient financial status and explain responsibilities.
  • Perform quality control on accounts and verify demographic/financial data.
  • Obtain authorizations for services and monitor plan compliance.
  • Screen patients for financial assistance and assist with required documentation.
  • Schedule and coordinate Medi-Cal/public program applications and follow up as needed.
  • Discuss balances with patients and help set up payment plans.
  • Ensure HIPAA and other regulations are followed in daily tasks.
