Job summary

Join Maryland Oncology Hematology as a patient pre-services coordinator focused on helping patients navigate insurance and costs. You will educate patients on coverage, determine financial assistance needs, and ensure accurate data in the billing systems.

Role requires strong communication, CPT/HCPCS knowledge, and attention to detail; minimum three years of relevant experience and proficiency with Microsoft Office are expected.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; minimum three years patient pre-services experience.
  • Proficiency with CPT and HCPCS coding concepts.
  • Strong verbal communication and knowledge of appropriate terminology.

Responsibilities

  • Obtain insurance coverage and demographics; educate patients on benefits, co-pays, deductibles, and expenses.
  • Prepare Patient Cost Estimate forms; assist with insurance eligibility and billing forms.
  • Obtain pre-authorization or referral codes from Clinical Reviewer prior to treatment.
  • Review account balances and coordinate with front desk to arrange payments.
  • Verify and update patient demographics and insurance per SOPs.
  • Stay current on financial aid options; build relationships with aid providers.
  • Maintain confidentiality; comply with HIPAA and related guidelines.
  • Maintain manuals, logs, and documentation; perform other duties as assigned.
  • Assist with additional tasks as needed.
