Job summary

LewisGale Hospital Pulaski is seeking a Patient Financial Counselor to review the Financial Clearance Worklist, visit in-house patients, and explain estimated patient liability while coordinating with outside agencies to secure coverage.

You will provide patient and physician estimates, generate insurance verification and precertification reports daily, assist with payment arrangements, and enter notes into the HIS system, following AIDET guidelines and cash handling policies.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• 1 year of related experience required.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.

Responsibilities

• Follow AIDET guidelines in all patient interactions.
• Provides estimates to patients and physicians as requested.
• Generates insurance verification and precertification reports daily and follows up with appropriate departments.
• Assists patients with payment arrangements and with Medicaid-related applications.
• Enters insurance information into the HIS system (e.g., Meditech).
• Maintains professional image and delivers excellent customer service.
• Completes financial analysis and collects estimated patient liabilities.
