Reno Orthopedic Center (ROC) seeks a Patient Financial Advisor to help patients navigate the financial aspects of their care. You will verify coverage, check eligibility, explain benefits, and set up feasible payment arrangements at our main Reno location.

The role emphasizes patient support, coordination with insurance providers, and accurate recordkeeping to ensure clear understanding of financial responsibilities.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma/GED.
• One year of experience performing customer service duties.
• Effective communication with employees, partners and customers.
• Proficiency with computer systems and Microsoft Office.
• Ability to deescalate tense conversations and ensure accuracy.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and collect patients’ financial responsibilities for procedures/services, set up and monitor payment plans.
• Verify insurance eligibility via portals and telephone; document deductible and coinsurance data.
• Conduct insurance benefits review to clarify patient monetary responsibility.
• Maintain detailed, accurate, and timely documentation in patient charts.
• Assist physicians and staff with billing procedures and account inquiries.

What would you do in this role?

In this position, you’ll play a key role in helping patients navigate the financial side of their care by monitoring and collecting procedure-related payments, setting up manageable payment plans, and ensuring they stay on track. You’ll work closely with insurance providers—verifying eligibility, confirming deductibles and co-insurance, and accurately documenting details in patient charts—so patients have a clear understanding of their financial responsibilities. This role is perfect for someone who enjoys combining patient support, financial coordination, and teamwork to create a smooth and positive experience for every patient.

A Day in the Life

• Monitor and collect patients’ financial responsibilities for procedures/services including setting up payment plans and monitoring collection of payment plans;
• Verify insurance eligibility via verification portals and telephone and document deductible/co-insurance data in patients’ charts;
• Conduct insurance benefits review with patients to ensure patients have a clear understanding of their monetary responsibility;
• Maintain detailed, accurate, and timely documentation in patients’ charts;
• Assist physicians and medical staff concerning billing procedures and account inquiries

Certifications/Education

• High School Diploma/GED;

Experience

• One year of experience performing customer service duties;
• Communicating effectively and professionally with various levels of employees, outside entities and customers;
• Using computer systems and applications, including Microsoft Office;
• Deescalating tense or sensitive conversations with customers/clients/etc;
• Reviewing work and checking for errors to ensure accuracy.
