Job summary

Qualifications

• High school diploma/GED required.
• Basic knowledge of medical terminology.
• Understands insurance concepts (in/out of network).
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
• Excellent interpersonal skills with ability to work on an interdisciplinary team.
• Working knowledge of creating and maintaining spreadsheet-based reports is a requirement.

Responsibilities

• Calculates estimated patient cost and out-of-pocket responsibility; answers questions about financial responsibility.
• Documents stages and issues in Epic.
• Administers Financial Assistance applications and arranges payment plans with patients; provides supporting documentation.
• Documents all payment arrangements and issues letters of agreement.
• Accepts and applies payments according to policy and procedures.
• Utilizes resources to obtain clinical information for billing authorization.
• Acts as liaison for Finance to obtain documents for billing transplant or global cases.
• Creates and maintains various reports.
• Identifies benefit limitations and assists with financial arrangements for patient portions.
• Obtains and disseminates contract details for facility and physician services.
• Performs financial counseling for self-pay population and refers to public aid when appropriate.
