Job summary

Memorial is seeking a Patient Financial Services Representative to greet patients and guarantors in hospital, ambulatory, or medical office settings. You will collect payments, provide estimates, verify insurance, obtain authorizations and assist with scheduling.

Excellent communication and accuracy are essential to ensure complete and compliant patient financial information. No prior experience required; one year in healthcare or customer service is preferred.

Qualifications

  • No experience required. One (1) year of related hospital, medical office, or customer service experience preferred.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively with patients, guarantors and staff.
  • Ability to verify demographics, financial and insurance information accurately.

Responsibilities

  • Collects patient out-of-pocket responsibility per collection guidelines.
  • Provides patient estimates as requested.
  • Prepares and balances a daily deposit of all payment collections.
  • Verifies insurance benefits including obtaining insurance card(s) and confirms coverage is active.
  • Determines correct insurance filing order when multiple coverages exist.
  • May schedule walk-in appointments for services offered.
  • Obtains pre-certification and authorization.
  • Explains policies including regulatory and financial consent forms and secures signatures.
  • Interviews patients and guarantors to gather necessary information, including ID copies.
