McFarland Clinic in Ames, IA is seeking a Patient Relations and Risk Management Coordinator for a full-time, Monday–Friday role (8:00 AM – 5:00 PM) with occasional evening events. The position emphasizes patient advocacy, service recovery, and clinical risk management to support high-quality, patient-centered care.

You will collaborate with patients, families, care teams, and leadership to investigate concerns, perform root cause analyses, and promote Just Culture principles.

Qualifications

• Experience in patient relations, risk management, or quality improvement preferred.
• Knowledge of Just Culture principles and patient safety practices is desirable.
• Strong communication and empathy in handling sensitive situations required.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the primary contact for patient and family concerns and service recovery needs.
• Collaborate with patients, families, providers, and care teams to promote respectful, high-quality care.
• Investigate concerns, document findings, and coordinate timely resolutions.
• Perform root cause analyses and contribute to system-based improvements.
• Support education on patient advocacy, safety, and risk reduction strategies.
