Job summary

Boston Children’s Hospital is seeking an administrative professional to support the Cardiac ICU's operations and to help ensure the best possible patient experience by coordinating services for patients and families.

You will perform scheduling, triage calls, obtain authorizations, and provide positive customer service while collaborating with referring providers and staff. The shift is overnight, Monday–Friday, 12-9:30pm.

Qualifications

  • High school level of education; bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Prior customer service or administrative experience preferred.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing; demonstrate empathy.

Responsibilities

  • Provide customer service via phone to support unit operations.
  • Collaborate with referring providers and practices via phone.
  • Obtain required authorizations and coordinate patient and staff schedules.
  • Triage calls and forward messages; provide routine clerical support.

Position summary

You will provide support to the administrative operations of the Cardiac ICU and will work to ensure the best possible patient experience by effectively coordinating services to patients and families. You will demonstrate interest in and ability to departmental and organizational initiatives & projects with a focus on continuous process improvement. You will perform various administrative functions requiring basic knowledge of programs and services. You will provide positive and effective customer service that supports departmental and hospital operations.

Shift: overnight; Monday-Friday 12-9:30pm

Key responsibilities
  • Patient Encounter Management:
    • Providing positive and effective customer service via phone that supports unit operations
    • Collaborating with referring providers and practices via phone
    • Obtaining required authorizations to compile patient and staff schedules
    • Scheduling patients and supporting patients encounter
  • Administrative:
    • Recording and forwarding messages, triaging calls for urgent information or services, initiating call for emergency services
    • Providing routine clerical support as needed
Education
Minimum qualifications
  • A high school level of education, bachelor’s degree preferred
Experience
  • Prior customer service or administrative experience preferred
  • The ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing and provide empathy in difficult interpersonal situations
  • The ability to work with diverse internal and external constituencies

The posted pay range is Boston Children’s reasonable and good-faith expectation for this pay at the time of posting.

Any base pay offer provided depends on skills, experience, education, certifications, and a variety of other job-related factors.
