Job summary

NYU Langone Hospital—Brooklyn in Brooklyn, NY is seeking a Coordinator, Patient Relations for a full-time, Monday–Friday 12pm–8pm schedule with alternating weekends. The coordinator acts as a liaison between patients, families, clinicians and staff to clarify hospital policies and ensure respectful, responsive service.

Responsibilities include greeting patients, assessing needs, documenting concerns in the Patient Feedback System, guiding patients through rights and resources, and escalating

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required with 2 years' experience or 60 college credits with 4 years of experience.
• Ability to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization.
• Healthcare/patient-relations experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Greets and welcomes admitted patients and their families and introduces the hospital services.
• Conducts daily visits on assigned units to assess non-clinical needs and ensures patient satisfaction.
• Investigates and facilitates resolution of quality concerns/complaints/grievances with patients and families.
• Initiates service recovery and directs inquiries to the appropriate Patient Relations Specialist.
• Participates in hospital-wide patient experience initiatives to improve the patient/family experience.
• Interprets policies pertaining to patient rights and responsibilities as requested.
• Documents all patient complaints, requests and compliments in the Patient Feedback System and shares feedback with involved staff.
• Escalates inquiries or incidents that may become risk or media concerns.
• Provides emotional support to patients, families and visitors.
• Accepts other responsibilities as assigned.
