Job summary

NYU Langone Hospital-Brooklyn is seeking a Patient Relations Coordinator for a full-time role, Monday–Friday 12pm–8pm with alternating weekends. You will liaise between patients, families and clinicians, explain policies, and help resolve concerns in line with the Patient Bill of Rights. Prior experience in patient relations preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required or 60 college credits with 4 years of experience.
• Ability to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization.
• Some formal training in medical interpretation is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Greets and welcomes admitted patients and their family members and introduces the services of the hospital. Addresses questions regarding patient experience and ensures needs are met.
• Conducts daily visits on assigned units, meeting with patients and families to determine non-clinical expectations, needs and concerns within policy.
• Investigates and facilitates resolution of quality of care concerns/complaints/grievances by engaging with healthcare providers and staff.
• Initiates appropriate service recovery methods to resolve concerns and directs inquiries to the appropriate Patient Relations Specialist.
• Participates in hospital-wide Patient Experience initiatives to improve patient/family experience.
• Communicates patient rights and hospital policies, ensuring understanding and adherence by patients and families.
