Job summary

NYU Langone Hospital-Suffolk is seeking a Specialist, Patient Relations to advocate for patients and families and manage complaints. The role reports to the Patient Experience and Culture team and supports a 9:00AM - 5:00PM, Monday to Friday schedule in a busy hospital setting.

The ideal candidate holds a Bachelor's degree with 3 years of relevant experience, strong communication skills, and proficiency in Microsoft Office. Certification in Patient Advocacy is preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required; 3 years' experience in a similar role.
• Customer service experience required.
• Microsoft Office proficiency required.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and participate in patient satisfaction projects and initiatives.
• Manage complaint cases from first contact to resolution per policy.
• Follow up on referrals regarding patient perceptions of care or service.
• Investigate quality of care concerns and facilitate timely, empathetic resolutions.
• Refer patients to appropriate services and provide innovative solutions.
• Educate patients about rights and advance directives; provide notary services.
• Organize and facilitate patient/family care conferences with clinicians.
• Educate staff on service recovery and patient experience best practices.
• Lead initiatives to improve patient experience across departments.
• Coordinate training and provide data reports on complaints, language services.
