Qualifications

• Two years of experience in a medical, billing, fiscal, or customer service role.
• Completion of high school diploma or equivalent required.
• Experience with PC-based applications and basic typing skills preferred.
• Knowledge of medical terminology is preferred.
• Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances: Act 31, Act 33, Act 34, Act 73 renewals.

Responsibilities

• Greet patients warmly and check them in.
• Guide patient through self-arrival technology or desk check-in.
• Collect copayments and other payments at the point of service.
• Register patients and verify insurance benefits.
• Schedule follow-up appointments and assist with portal registration.
• Triaged phone calls and route to appropriate areas.
• Assist with administrative duties including scanning and faxing.
• Promote MyUPMC patient portal and help registration when applicable.
• Ensure HIPAA compliance and accurate patient data maintenance.
• Provide exceptional customer service to ensure a positive UPMC experience.
