Job summary

Retina Consultants of Texas is seeking a Drug Coordinator to advocate for patients, ensure adherence to prescribed drug therapy and pharmacy care plans, and coordinate copay assistance to improve outcomes.

The role supports variable hours Monday–Friday, 8:00 am–5:30 pm, with a focus on resolving patient inquiries and building strong relationships with physicians and patients across multiple locations.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• Bachelors degree preferred.
• 4–6 years experience in insurance, biotech, or pharmaceutical industries; customer service and/or reimbursement preferred.
• Health Insurance claims or patient accounting experience a plus.
• MS Office proficiency; EHR/Practice Management experience a plus.

Responsibilities

• Conduct benefit investigations and verify insurance benefits for patients.
• Submit and obtain prior authorizations as required by payer; recertification for extended cases.
• Review, enter and maintain co-pay data; monitor outstanding items in databases.
• Coordinate product orders, shipment, and therapy initiation with pharmacy and patient.
• Respond to calls from patients, insurers, physicians, vendors, and pharmacies; act as a contact for prescribers.
• Identify and report events per Revenue Cycle Manager requirements; report adverse events to manufacturers.
• Educate patients and prescribers on program requirements and facilitate referrals.
• Maintain requested housekeeping and comply with safety/environmental programs.
