Job summary

Fairview Health Services in Minneapolis is seeking a Room Service Associate to guide customers through the room service process by phone and to communicate with hospital staff about diet orders. The position is located at Fairview East Bank University Hospital, with hours totaling 37 hours biweekly and a day/evening schedule.

Required are strong customer service skills, clear English communication, basic math, and the ability to provide consistent excellent service.

Qualifications

• Six months customer service experience and six months office equipment/computer experience.
• Ability to communicate clearly, both verbally and in writing, in English.
• Problem-solving, critical thinking and negotiation/persuasion skills.
• Basic math skills.
• Ability to provide consistent outstanding customer service.
• Passing grade of 80% of the Diet Comprehension Training Program within four weeks.
• Free of any corrective action for six months.

Responsibilities

• Explain diet order to patient or staff.
• Knowledge of specific nutrients in food.
• Understanding of dietary needs with modified diets.
• Understanding of culturally specific food choices.
• Identify foods in relation to patient allergies.
• Determine appropriate food choices for therapeutic diets.
