Job summary

Eye Clinics of Michigan is seeking a Patient Coordinator to act as the first point of contact for patients, handling check-in/out and basic administrative tasks in a busy eye care office in Brownstown, MI. The role supports patient flow and insurance verification while delivering excellent service.

Qualifications include a high school diploma or GED, strong customer service, basic computer skills, and willingness to work over 40 hours as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Provide exceptional customer service during every patient encounter (in person or via phone).
  • Answer phones (both external and internal); assure prompt, courteous service at all times.
  • Practice urgency at all times with patients’ time, as well as Doctor’s time and schedule.
  • Manage patient flow in the office.
  • Knowledge of common fees charged for common visits and collect correct payments.
  • Complete daily reconciliations / close day / countdown cash drawer.
  • General office duties and cleaning to be assigned by manager.

Location: On-site at our office in Brownstown, MI
Travel: Travel to our other offices in Wayne, Wyandotte and Dearborn, MI is required as needed. We do pay mileage reimbursement!

Hours:
  • Full Time
  • Our office is open Monday-Friday 8am-5pm
    • You may need to work a little earlier/later as needed
Requirements:

Essential Functions:
  • Facilitate patient flow
  • Verify medical and vision insurances
  • Effectively communicate with patients, doctors, and managers
  • Answer inquiries through phone, email, and in person requests
SUMMARY

A Patient Coordinator is trained to act as the first point of contact for our patients where they set the tone for the patient’s visit through excellent patient care. This employee will also perform the necessary administrative responsibilities needed to create a smooth check-in/out experience for patients.

  • Answer phones (both external and internal); assure prompt, courteous service at all times

  • Knowledge of common fees charged for common visitsand collect correct payments
  • Complete daily reconciliations / close day / countdown cash drawer

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
  • Minimum Required: High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • Minimum Required: One year of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
LICENSES AND CREDENTIALS
  • Minimum Required: None
SYSTEMS AND TECHNOLOGY
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
  • This role requires a varietyofphysicalactivities to effectively perform essential job functions. The position involves frequent walking (75%), sitting (50%), and standing (50%), with regular bending, stooping, and reaching (25–50%). Employees must be able to lift, carry, push, and pull items up to 25 lbs. Strong fine motor skills and full use of hands are essential, as the role demands constant grasping, writing/typing, and use of technology. Visual and auditory acuity—including color, depth, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus is required100% of the time. Occasional driving or climbing may also be necessary.
