Job summary

Virginia Urology is seeking a Communications Specialist to serve as the primary liaison between patients and the healthcare team in our Richmond-area clinic. You will handle high-volume calls and texts, schedule appointments, register patients, and route messages to physicians and staff with professionalism.

The ideal candidate has at least one year of call center experience, strong typing and grammar, and familiarity with EMR systems.

Qualifications

• At least one year of call center customer service experience required.
• Accurate typing, spelling, grammar and keyboarding skills required for documentation.
• Training in computerized phone system will be provided.

Responsibilities

• Answer incoming calls and texts quickly; greet callers with empathy and provide information about hours, locations, services.
• Schedule, reschedule, and cancel patient visits using the EMR system and scheduling tools.
• Verify and enter patient demographics and insurance information during scheduling and chart creation.
• Transcribe detailed messages to clinical and non-clinical staff and route according to guidelines.
• Document phone/text interactions in the patient’s chart with accuracy.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
