Job summary

Chesapeake Regional Healthcare is seeking a Mammography Services Associate to maintain patient care quality in the Mammography department and across the organization. Responsibilities include handling PACS/RIS tasks, updating records, and ensuring confidentiality while supporting radiology operations.

Typical duties cover film record creation, tracking, and loan processes, as well as reporting equipment issues and contributing to FDA/MQSA documentation.

Qualifications

  • Minimum education: high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Preferred education: courses in Medical Technology.

Responsibilities

  • Copy images for check-out using PACS software.
  • Research patient radiology records in the RIS and HIS while maintaining confidentiality.
  • Research duplicate records and alert records personnel.
  • Verify patient identification and update records.
  • Create film records for new and existing patients with names, dates, and MRN.
  • Track film records across department using the RIS.
  • File film jackets by MRN to the correct shelf and track with RIS.
  • Loan film records after verifying borrower's ID.
  • Mail back outside films and log in RIS.
  • Communicate equipment malfunctions and low inventory to supervisor.
  • Gather information for FDA and MQSA documentation for Lead Technologist.
  • Provide service to patients, visitors, physicians, and staff in person, by phone, and by fax.
  • Assess patient needs and direct them to the appropriate department.
  • Attend required hospital orientations, meetings, and in-services.
  • Demonstrate commitment to flexible work scheduling when necessary to ensure patient care.
