Job summary

PACS is seeking a Staff Occupational Therapist Assistant to support the Staff Occupational Therapist with patient-related activities and direct care in a post-acute setting.

The role emphasizes documentation, collaboration with the health team, patient and family instruction, and participation in discharge planning while maintaining compliance with state practice acts. The position involves maintaining a clean treatment area and reporting equipment issues to ensure smooth operations.

Qualifications

• Licensed as an Occupational Therapy Assistant in the state.
• Proficient with Casamba and Point Click Care software.
• Ability to read technical procedures and policy manuals.
• Ability to effectively communicate with managers, coworkers and families.

Responsibilities

• Treat patients as directed by the Occupational Therapist.
• Record daily treatment notes and weekly progress notes per OT Board.
• Treat patients per the physician treatment plan.
• Assist nursing department with training of Restorative Aides.
• Communicate with supervisor and other health team members regarding patient progress, problem and plans.
• Participate in in-services training program for other staff in the facility.
• Record evaluations, daily treatment notes, weekly progress notes, recertification documentation, per Occupational Therapy Board State Practice Act and governmental and third-party payer requirements.
• Record treatment changes per policy and procedures.
• Instruct patient’s families or nursing staff in maintenance program and caregiver training in preparation for discharge from therapy services.
• Participate in discharge planning.
• Assist with cleaning and maintenance of treatment area.
• Report any problems with department equipment so that it is maintained in good working order.
• Ability to relate positively, effectively, and appropriately with patients/residents, families, staff and professional colleagues.
