Job summary

The University of Iowa Health Care’s Safety and Security team is seeking a Hospital Security Officer to cover 2nd and 3rd shifts, ensuring a safe environment for patients, visitors and staff across UI Health Care facilities in Iowa City. You will perform patrols, respond to incidents, and enforce campus policies.

Responsibilities include security checks, investigations, emergency response, wayfinding assistance, and documentation.

Qualifications

• Two years’ security and safety experience or related education with practical experience.
• Must possess a valid driver’s license and UI Fleet Safety standards.
• Ability to obtain IA HSS certification within 6 months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Provide exceptional customer service to patients, visitors, and staff entering the hospital.
• Perform security checks, patrol facilities, and monitor assignments.
• Conduct incident investigations and document follow-up actions.
• Respond to emergencies, safety issues, and security alarms.
• Assist with wayfinding, access control, and parking enforcement.
• Maintain effective oral and written communication and enforce policies.
