Job summary

Northwest Texas Healthcare System in Amarillo seeks a Health Unit Coordinator to provide clerical and data management services for the Patient Care Unit under the supervision of the Charge Nurse. You will attend to patients' direct care needs as delegated by the RN and support an environment focused on Service Excellence.

Requirements include a High School Diploma, typing test, medical terminology experience or HUC training, and applicable certifications such as BLS and CNA/EMT/ LVN-ADN-BSN/MA.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Completion of typing test.
• Previous experience with medical terminology or Health Unit Coordinator course.
• Current BLS certification upon hire and maintained.
• HWC and Verbal De-escalation training within 30 days of hire.
• Must possess one of CNA Certificate or equivalent, 2 years patient care, EMT, LVN/ADN/BSN student with Fundamentals, or Medical Assistant Certification.

Responsibilities

• Provides clerical and data management services for the Patient Care Unit as assigned, under the supervision of the Charge Nurse.
• Attends to the patient's direct care needs and performs tasks as delegated by the RN.
• Supports an organizational culture for Service Excellence and practices the Service Excellence Standards to all customer groups.
• Assists the RN with implementation of an age appropriate plan of care through tasks routinely delegated by the RN, based on the patient’s condition and the individual’s skills.
