Job summary

Stony Brook Eastern Long Island Hospital is seeking a Patient Care Technician (PCT) / Nursing Assistant to provide direct patient care under the supervision of nursing staff. You will assist with daily living activities, monitor vital signs, and support a safe clinical environment.

Responsibilities include phlebotomy, glucose monitoring, EKGs, patient transfers, and collaboration with families and medical staff. BLS is required now; PCT certification within the first year is mandatory.

Qualifications

• Current BLS provider certification from the American Heart Association.
• PCT certification required within first year of employment.
• Prior experience in a Nursing Assistant role preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assists patients with basic needs including bathing, grooming, dressing, eating and using the restroom.
• Regularly measures and records vital signs such as temperature, pulse, blood pressure and respiration.
• Draws blood, urine, or stool samples for testing.
• Obtains blood glucose levels, EKGs.
• Maintains safe, clean, and therapeutic environments; responds to patient call bells; assists with transfers and mobility.
