Job summary

Good Samaritan University Hospital, a 437-bed teaching hospital and member of Catholic Health on Long Island, seeks a Nursing Technician to assist under a Nurse Practitioner, supporting safe patient care in a Level I Trauma Center with a staffed team of about 900 physicians.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Completion of NA program, BOCES, Military Hospital Corps School or equivalent, or completion of medical/surgical experience within an RN program; Current BLS.

Responsibilities

• Hands hygiene and standard precautions.
• Assist with patient visits and reception, equipment prep, vital signs, weights, orientation, safety.
• Perform direct patient care focusing on hygiene, safety, comfort and skin care.
• Prepare oxygen equipment, perform phlebotomy, 12-lead EKG.
• Assist and/or transport patients safely.
• Collect and transport specimens per regulatory standards.
• Facilitate patient flow through the department.
