Job summary

Baystate Health's South Wing 6 General Surgery unit in Springfield, MA is seeking a Part-Time Night Patient Care Technician. You will provide hands-on patient care, assist with activities of daily living, monitor vital signs, and support the nursing team.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED and BLS CPR certification, with preferred experience in patient care and CNA training. Schedule includes three twelve-hour night shifts per week with every-other weekend.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• BLS CPR certification through American Heart Association.
• At least 1 year of patient care experience preferred.
• PCT/CNA training preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provided safe, age-appropriate patient care, assisting with activities of daily living, mobility, elimination, and personal care while promoting patient dignity and safety.
• Monitored and accurately documented vital signs, weights, intake/output, and other physiological parameters; promptly reported significant changes in patient condition to nursing staff.
• Assisted with treatments, procedures, dressing changes, specimen collection, point-of-care testing, and physician examinations in accordance with hospital policies and procedures.
• Provided one-to-one patient observation as needed, recognized changes in patient condition or safety concerns, and responded appropriately to emergency situations.
• Collaborated effectively with nurses, physicians, and interdisciplinary team members while maintaining clear communication, accurate documentation, and patient-centered care.

Baystate Health is seeking a Patient Care Technician to join our South Wing 6 General Surgery unit at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield, Massachusetts . Our South Wing 6 General Surgery Unit contains 32 beds, 2 rooms have been converted to double rooms to assist with decompression of the ER.

Populations served- orthopedic, trauma, urology, musculoskeletal spinal surgery, endocrine, bariatric surgery, colorectal and thoracic patients

South Wing 6 is a fast-paced surgical unit with high acuity and great opportunity for learning and developing your critical thinking skills.

The Patient Care Technician Will:
