Job summary

Northwestern Medicine is seeking a dedicated Patient Care Technician to support RNs and deliver compassionate, patient-centered care on our unit. You will assist with direct and indirect care, monitor vital signs, perform phlebotomy, and help with daily activities to ensure comfort and safety for patients across all ages.

You'll work under the supervision of registered nurses, adhere to hospital policies, and participate in quality improvement and care coordination.

Qualifications

• CNA Certification or currently enrolled in School of Nursing with basic clinical rotations completed.
• CPR recognition by the American Heart Association (BLS for Healthcare Providers).
• Minimum of 90% correct on annual Health and Safety Training quizzes.
• Unit based recognition for Capillary Blood Glucose Monitoring.
• High school diploma required. One year of college or nursing education or equivalent experience preferred.
• Previous experience in a health care setting preferred with a demonstrated ability to relate to patients, family, nursing and medical staff.

Responsibilities

• Direct patient care including admission, transfer, and discharge processes.
• Take and record temperature, pulse, respirations, weight, height, and blood pressure.
• Obtain EKG and apply fetal monitor equipment.
• Perform phlebotomy and collect specimens.
• Transport patients and equipment during urgent situations and at discharge.
• Respond to patient call lights promptly and provide morning/evening care.
