Job summary

UAB St. Vincent's in Birmingham, AL is seeking a Full-Time Nights nurse assistant to support 3 West, Med Surg. You will perform patient care under supervision, assist with ambulation, daily living activities, and report changes to nursing staff.

Responsibilities include vitals, documentation, keeping rooms clean, and performing assigned technical care tasks such as oxygen setup and EKGs. BLS required within 30 days; HS diploma or equivalent or 1 year of relevant experience.

Qualifications

• BLS Provider certification within 1 month (30 days) of hire date required; American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
• High School diploma equivalency or 1 year of relevant, job-specific experience required.

Responsibilities

• Perform basic clinical and non-clinical patient care activities under supervision.
• Assist patients with ambulation and personal care.
• Assist with activities of daily living.
• Report findings or changes to nursing staff and document records.
• Keep patient rooms clean and maintain equipment.
• Perform technical duties such as oxygen setup, catheter care, pulse oximetry setup, specimen collection and EKGs.
• Obtain and record vitals, weight, and inputs/outputs.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Schedule : Full-Time Nights, 7pm-7am

What You Will Do

• Perform basic clinical and non-clinical patient care activities under supervision.
• Assist patients with ambulation as necessary. This may include helping them to a recliner in their room, walk to the bathroom or down the hall. Assist dismissed patients in getting safely to their vehicles.
• Assist patients with tending to personal care and activities of daily living.
• Reports findings or changes in physical, mental and emotional conditions to nursing staff. Documents necessary records.
• Keeps patient rooms clean, orderly, and maintains medical equipment.
• Performs certain technical patient care duties in the hospital as directed by the staff nurse such as oxygen setup, foley catheter care, pulse oximetry setup, specimen collection and EKGs.
• Obtain and record vitals, weight, and inputs and outputs.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

What You Will Need

• Licensure / Certification / Registration: BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
• Education: High School diploma equivalency OR 1 year of applicable cumulative job specific experience required.
