Job summary

University of Maryland Capital Region Health (Laurel, MD) is seeking compassionate Patient Care Technicians (PCTs) to join our team in a PRN role. You will work with licensed nurses to provide hands-on patient care, document vitals, and support safety and comfort for our patients.

The position emphasizes teamwork, reliability, and strong communication as you assist with daily living activities, safety protocols, and patient transfers in a fast-paced hospital setting.

Qualifications

• Current CNA certification is required.
• BLS certification is required.
• Prior patient care or hospital experience is preferred.
• Must be able to safely assist with lifting, transferring, and moving patients.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care under the supervision of a licensed nurse.
• Obtain and document vital signs and report changes in patient condition.
• Assist patients with activities of daily living and mobility needs.
• Support patient safety initiatives, including fall prevention and infection control.
• Monitor and report physical or emotional changes in patients.

• Maintain clean, organized patient care areas and stock supplies as needed.

Job Requirements

In this role, you will work closely with licensed nurses and the interdisciplinary care team to provide high-quality, hands‑on patient care while supporting the comfort, safety, and well‑being of our patients. This is a PRN position scheduled to work less than 1,000 hours per year.

What You'll Do
