Sentara Health in Norfolk, VA is seeking a Patient Care Technician to support patient care on a high-acuity cardiac unit during the night shift. Responsibilities include daily living activities, vital signs, mobility, specimen collection, and assistance with procedures under the direction of an RN.
Requires HS diploma or equivalent and relevant certifications; BLS within 90 days. The 36-hour weekly schedule runs 7 PM–7 AM with rotating weekends, on a 24-bed unit recognized for excellence.
The Patient Care Technician provides patient care, support independent and dependent activities of daily living, vital signs, mobility and ambulation, phlebotomy, point of care testing, EKG testing, peripheral IV removal, specimen collection, and foley catheter insertion and removal, and comply with patient safety practices under the direction of the professional RN nurse. Observe patients' physical, mental, and emotional conditions and document in a timely and accurate manner while reporting any change to the nurse or medical staff.

This 24-bed specialty unit provides high acuity cardiac care to patients with severe heart failure, pre/post heart transplant, the Total Artificial Heart, and pulmonary hypertension. We provide market-competitive compensation packages, inclusive of base pay, incentives, and benefits. The base pay range for full-time employment is $18.93 - $27.41 hourly.
