Job summary

Northeast Georgia Health System is seeking a non-licensed patient care technician to assist nursing units, transport patients, stock rooms, and support basic clinical tasks under the supervision of the shift nurse. The role spans adolescent, adult, and geriatric patient care within defined practice guidelines.

Minimum education includes a High School Diploma or GED; CNA certification is preferred. CCHT certification is required for dialysis units.

Qualifications

• CCHT certification is required for dialysis unit only.
• High School Diploma, GED, or high school transcript showing completion of at least the sophomore level.
• No previous experience required; may enroll in NGHS’s PCT Academy if not yet CNA certified.

Responsibilities

• Obtains and reports basic patient data (vital signs, weight, etc.).
• Performs patient transport, basic care, and unit housekeeping tasks.
• Responds to patient call lights and assists with activities of daily living.
• Maintains patient safety and adheres to Universal Precautions and Hand Hygiene policies.
• ORIENTS patient/family to unit and explains procedures prior to beginning care.
• Accurately documents patient information in IT systems and communicates with licensed staff.
