  • Clinic hours: MWF 4:30am-5pm, TThS 4:30am-3:45pm, closed Sunday
  • Rotating days/shifts, 8-12 hours/day
  • No previous dialysis experience needed, on the job training is provided!

PURPOSE AND SCOPE:

Functions as part of the dialysis health care team in providing safe and effective dialysis therapy for patients under the supervision of a licensed nurse, in accordance with organization policies, procedures, training, and regulatory standards. Responsible for setting up and operating hemodialysis machines, maintaining a safe environment, and supporting quality improvement initiatives.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Patient Related

Education:

  • Assist healthcare team in providing patient-specific education on adequacy measures, disease process, and access.

Treatment:

  • Welcome patients, assess wellbeing, evaluate vascular access, perform cannulation, administer heparin as delegated, and obtain vital signs and weights pre- and post-treatment.
  • Initiate and discontinue dialysis treatments per orders, monitor patient response, and document all procedures accurately.
  • Manage safety alarms, record treatment data, and report significant changes to nursing staff.
  • Maintain infection control and prepare laboratory specimens as required.

Staff and Communication

  • Assist in training staff, follow policies, ensure environment safety, and disinfect equipment between treatments.

Record Keeping & Quality

  • Participate in CQI activities, document treatment data, and ensure completeness and accuracy of records.

Infection Control & Transitional Care

  • Support infection control practices, participate in audits, and assist in transitional care for new patients, including education and coordination.

Physical Demands & Conditions:

  • Require physical ability to lift up to 40 lbs, stand for prolonged periods, and perform patient transfers with assistance. Must pass color blindness testing and work in a healthcare environment with exposure to infectious materials.

Education & Licenses:

  • High school diploma or G.E.D., valid state licensure, and certification as required by CMS. Must meet all regulatory requirements within specified timelines.

Experience & Skills:

  • Preferred previous patient care experience; successful completion of dialysis training and CPR certification required for continued employment.

The hourly rate ranges from $15.00 to $25.00, with comprehensive benefits including health insurance, 401(k), paid time off, and parental leave.
