UAB Medicine seeks a patient care associate to perform basic clinical and non-clinical tasks under supervision in our Birmingham facility. The role involves assisting patients with ambulation, daily living activities, documentation, and maintaining clean rooms and equipment.

The position requires a High School diploma equivalency or at least 1 year of related experience, with BLS certification obtained within 30 days of hire.

• High School diploma equivalency or 1 year of applicable cumulative job specific experience.
• BLS Provider certification required within 1 month of hire (American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted).

Responsabilidades

• Assist patients with ambulation and activities of daily living.
• Report findings or changes in physical, mental and emotional conditions to nursing staff; document records.
• Keep patient rooms clean and equipment maintained.
• Perform technical patient care duties as directed (oxygen setup, catheter care, pulse oximetry, specimen collection, EKGs).
• Record vitals, weight, and inputs/outputs.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Job Description

Perform basic clinical and non-clinical patient care activities under supervision.

• Assist patients with ambulation as necessary. This may include helping them to a recliner in their
  room, walk to the bathroom or down the hall. Assist dismissed patients in getting safely to their
  vehicles.
• Assist patients with tending to personal care and activities of daily living.
• Reports findings or changes in physical, mental and emotional conditions to nursing staff.
  Documents necessary records.
• Keeps patient rooms clean, orderly, and maintains medical equipment.
• Performs certain technical patient care duties in the hospital as directed by the staff nurse such as
  oxygen setup, foley catheter care, pulse oximetry setup, specimen collection and EKGs.
• Obtain and record vitals, weight, and inputs and outputs.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Licensure / Certification / Registration:

• BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.

Education:

• High School diploma equivalency OR1 year of applicable cumulative job specific experience required.
