Job summary

UPMC Passavant in Pittsburgh is seeking a Part-Time Patient Care Technician to support the 4 Pavilion Medical Stepdown Unit. The role provides direct patient care under RN direction, assisting with ADLs, procedures, and therapies to enhance patient experience.

Shifts are 24 hours per week with rotating schedules. Pay levels begin at various hourly rates by role (Care Attendant, Nursing Assistant, Patient Care Technician, Senior) and are determined by qualifications and experience.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care under RN direction, including ADLs and therapies.
• Perform core PCT duties: vital signs, telemetry, EKGs, specimen collection, dressing changes.
• Assist with unit and patient needs (call lights, meals, transport, monitoring).
• Maintain a safe, clean, and organized environment following infection control and safety protocols.
• Monitor patients and report changes in condition or equipment issues promptly.
• Document care accurately and complete clerical tasks as needed.
• Support unit operations by stocking supplies and assisting with department activities.
• Communicate effectively with patients, families, and the healthcare team to support coordinated care.
• Demonstrate professionalism by building positive relationships and seeking growth opportunities.
• Respond to emergent situations and provide patient supervision or assistance as appropriate.
