Job summary

UnityPoint Health is seeking aPatient Care Technician to provide hands-on patient care under the direction of a licensed professional. The role focuses on vital care activities, mobility, nutrition, hydration and preparation of environments for procedures.

Qualifications

• CNA certification preferred.
• BLS certification must be obtained within three months from hire date.
• Must be 16 years or older.
• Valid driver's license when driving for work-related reasons.

Responsibilities

• Assists with simple procedures such as transfer and positioning of patients.
• Transports patients, equipment, supplies, and specimens.
• Verifies patient identification on name band and chart using two identifiers (name and birthdate).
• Maintains a clean, orderly and safe environment.
• Restocks supplies, changes linens, and cleans transport carts.

Education

CNA certification preferred

BLS certification within 3 months

Overview

Shift: 2 days per week with rotating hours 8am-7:30pm; Monday-Friday only; 16 hours/week

Under the direction of a licensed professional, the Patient Care Technician delivers hands‑on patient care and comfort, assists with clinical procedures and technical tasks, and accurately observes, reports, and documents patient status. The role supports safe, efficient unit operations by focusing on personal care, mobility, nutrition, hydration, elimination, and prevention of complications, while preparing patients and environments for procedures. Collaborating with the interdisciplinary team, the PCT provides compassionate, patient‑and family‑centered support across diverse care settings to promote quality outcomes and a positive experience.

• Team members under the age of 18 may not independentlyoperatemechanical lift equipment.

Qualifications

License(s)/Certification(s):

• CNA certification preferred
• Must possess and maintain current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or obtain certification within three (3) months from date of hire.

Other:

• Must be 16 years old or older
• Valid driver's license when driving any vehicle for work-related reasons
• Level 3 Medium Work: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
