GENERAL OVERVIEW:

This role involves providing direct patient care and assisting with non-direct patient care unit coordination. The incumbent will perform basic nursing procedures related to patient comfort and care, with knowledge of patient needs in the assigned area. They will assist RNs in caring for acutely ill patients, practicing medical asepsis, respecting patient dignity and privacy, and maintaining objectivity. Adherence to hospital policies, emergency response, environment maintenance, effective communication, and documentation are essential. The work is supervised by RNs, with specific tasks assigned by Charge Nurses or Care Team Leaders, emphasizing efficient time management. Additional duties include coordinating activities like admissions, discharges, and transfers.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Provide and document direct patient care activities such as vital signs, ambulation, specimen collection, intake/output, and more. (30%)
• Participate in quality and satisfaction initiatives, including bedside reports, hourly rounding, safety protocols, and environment maintenance. (30%)
• Accurately document patient data and report changes or concerns to nursing staff. (20%)
• Assist with unit activities like supply stocking and equipment cleaning. (20%)
• Perform other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum

• High School Diploma or GED
• Ability to attend 2 weeks of training if limited/no experience
• Basic reading, writing, math, and computer skills
• CPR certification (American Heart Association)
• Act 34, 33, and 73 criminal background clearances

Preferred

• Recent acute care experience within 3 years
• Enrollment in ASN or BSN program, preferably with clinical rotation completed
