GENERAL OVERVIEW:

This role involves providing direct patient care and assisting with non-direct patient care unit coordination. The incumbent performs basic nursing procedures related to patient care and comfort for stable patients and supports RN in caring for acutely ill patients. Responsibilities include practicing medical asepsis, respecting patient dignity and privacy, maintaining objectivity, adhering to hospital policies, responding to emergencies, maintaining the environment, and documenting care accurately. The position works under the supervision of a Registered Nurse, receiving specific assignments from the Charge Nurse or Care Team Leader, and demonstrates efficient time management. Additional duties include coordinating activities related to patient admissions, discharges, and transfers.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Providing and documenting direct patient care activities such as vital signs, skin surveys, ambulation, specimen collection, intake and output, and assisting with treatments and procedures. (30%)
2. Participating in quality and patient satisfaction initiatives, including bedside shift reports, hourly rounding, safety protocols, and maintaining a clean environment. (30%)
3. Accurately documenting all patient data and reporting changes or concerns to nursing staff. (20%)
4. Participating in unit activities such as supply stocking and equipment cleaning. (20%)
5. Performing other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum

• High School Diploma or GED
• Ability to attend 2 weeks of training with limited or no experience
• Ability to read, write, and follow instructions
• Basic math skills and computer literacy
• CPR certification (American Heart Association)
• Act 34, Act 33, and Act 73 background clearances

Preferred

• Recent acute care experience within the last 3 years
• Enrollment in ASN or BSN program, preferably with clinical rotation completed
