Job summary

MedStar Health’s Washington Hospital Center is seeking a Patient Care Technician to support direct patient care in Burn and Perioperative Services under RN or provider supervision. You will assist with ADLs, vital signs, specimen collection, and room preparation, ensuring patient safety and comfort.

Responsibilities include helping with procedures, transporting patients, maintaining cleanliness, and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Completion of an approved nursing assistant certification program required.
• EMT/Paramedic program with at least six months or more experience as EMT/EMT-P required or RN student.
• Nursing student or RN program graduate with clinical rotation completed may qualify.
• Current DC CNA certification and CPR for healthcare providers within 90 days required.
• Phlebotomy (CPT) certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Performs procedures under nurse or physician supervision, including phlebotomy and vital signs collection.
• Maintains patient comfort, confidentiality and dignity throughout care.
• Assists with activities of daily living (ADLs) and mobility tasks for patients.
• Transports patients, prepares rooms, and ensures supplies are stocked and organized.
• Reports changes in patient status to nursing/medical staff per protocol.
• Cleans, prepares exam rooms, and supports perioperative and burn service activities.
