Job summary

Sentara Virginia Beach General Hospital is seeking a Patient Care Technician for the 2 South Oncology unit. The role supports nursing staff, helps with admissions and discharges, and monitors patients’ physical, mental, and emotional states during the night shift.

Ideal candidates will have a high school diploma or equivalent and BLS certification within 90 days. Prior CNA/NCMA/NCPCT or related clinical experience is preferred for this full-time position on the Oncology floor.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or Equivalent required.
• BLS Certification required within 90 days of hire.
• CNAs, NCMA, NCPCT or equivalent certifications considered.
• Clinical program participation or recent CNA/PCT experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide patient care under supervision of a nurse.
• Support admissions and discharge processes.
• Observe patient conditions and report changes to the nurse.
• Adhere to patient safety practices on unit.

Our unit works with all cancers, specializing in leukemia and lymphoma treatment, radiation, gynecologic cancers, hematologic disorders, end of life patients. Join our work family on the FIGHT against cancer.Patient Care Technicians are unlicensed staff members who are accountable to, and work under the direct supervision of a professional nurse to implement delegated aspects of nursing care. Provide patient care, support the admissions and discharge process, and comply with patient safety practices under the direction of the professional nurse.
