Sentara Obici Hospital in Suffolk, VA is seeking a Patient Care Technician for a full-time night shift on the Medicine Unit. Hours are 7PM to 7AM with three 12-hour shifts and rotating weekends.

The PCT role includes assisting with admissions/discharges, monitoring patient conditions, and following safety protocols under a nurse's supervision. BLS within 90 days and healthcare experience preferred.

Qualifications

• HS diploma or equivalent.
• One of the following programs: Sentara Care Partner Certification Program, CNA, NCMA, NCPCT, Navy Hospital Corps School, EMR/EMS/EMT training, or current enrollment in a clinical program having completed at least one semester of RN, LPN, RT or PT or prior work as a PCT or Nursing Assistant.
• AHA BLS certification within 90 days of hire; education: one year of health care experience is preferred.

• Provide patient care under the direct supervision of a professional nurse.
• Support the admissions and discharge process.
• Observe patients' physical, mental, and emotional conditions and report any change to the nursing.

City/State Suffolk, VA Work Shift Third (Nights) Overview: Additional Job Description Sentara Obici Hospital is hiring a Patient Care Tech (PCT) for a full-time, night shift position in Suffolk, VA on our Medicine Unit! Hours: 7PM to 7AM. Three 12-hour shifts (36-hours per week), with rotating weekends.

Department/Position Overview: Join a unit known for its great teamwork! This general medicine unit has great engagement within the nursing team, and the patient population is medical patients. Sentara Obici Hospital is a recognized Primary Stroke Center and Magnet hospital. PCT staff will see between 8 and 12 patient ratio on the unit.

Patient Care Technicians are unlicensed staff members who are accountable to, and work under the direct supervision of a professional nurse to implement delegated aspects of nursing care. Provide patient care, support the admissions and discharge process, and comply with patient safety practices under the direction of the professional nurse. Observe patients' physical, mental, and emotional conditions and report any change to the nursing.

Education: HS – High School Grad or Equivalent One of the following programs: Sentara Care Partner Certification Program, successful completion of the Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), National Certified Medical Assistant (NCMA), National Patient Care Technician (NCPCT), completion of US Navy Hospital Corps School, Emergency Services to include EMR, EMS, EMT, AEMT and Paramedic, or current student enrolled in a clinical program having completed at least one semester of a (RN, LPN, RT or PT) or current work experience within last three years as a PCT or Nursing Assistant.

Certifications/Licensure: AHA BLS certification within 90 days of hire. Education: One year of health care experience is preferred.
