Sentara Leigh Hospital in Norfolk, VA is hiring a Patient Care Technician for the Observation Unit on the night shift (approximately 6pm–6am). The role involves direct patient care, assistance with admissions/discharges, and strict adherence to patient safety practices under the supervision of a registered nurse.
Required education includes a high school diploma or equivalent and certification such as BLS; CNA/NCMA/NCPCT or Navy Hospital Corps School credentials are advantageous.
Qualificações

- BLS certification within 90 days of hire.
- CNA/NCMA/NCPCT certifications listed in requirements.
- Navy Hospital Corps School completion may be required.
- Emergency medical service credentials (EMR/EMS/EMT/AEMT/Paramedic) desirable.
- Currently enrolled in a clinical program with at least one semester completed.
- Healthcare experience within the last 3 years preferred.

Sentara is currently hiring a Patient Care Technician to work at Sentara Leigh Hospital located in Norfolk on our Observation Unit.
Full-time, nightshift, approximately 6pm to 6am
- Provide patient care, support the admissions and discharge process, and comply with patient safety practices under the direction of the professional nurse.
- Observe patients' physical, mental, and emotional conditions and report any change to the nurse.
- High School Diploma or Equivalent
- Certification/Licensure American Health Associate BLS Certification required within 90 days of hire.
- Sentara Care Partner Certification Program
- Successful completion of the Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA)
- National Certified Medical Assistant (NCMA)
- National Patient Care Technician (NCPCT)
- Completion of US Navy Hospital Corps School
- Emergency Services to include EMR, EMS, EMT, AEMT and Paramedic
- Current student enrolled in a clinical program (beyond prerequisites) having completed at least one semester of RN, LPN, RT or PT
- Current work experience within last three years as a PCT or Nursing Assistant
One year of prior health care experience preferred.
The base pay range for full-time employment is $18.93 - $27.41 hourly.
Additional compensation may be available for this role, such as shift differentials, on-call pay, overtime, shift premiums, extra-shift incentives, or bonus opportunities. Compensation within the range may vary based on qualifications, experience, location, market conditions, and business needs.
