Job summary

HCA Healthcare’s Overland Park Regional Medical Center is seeking a Patient Care Technician to support RNs in a fast-paced acute care environment. You will assist with vital signs, mobility, and personal care while maintaining a safe, welcoming patient setting.

The role emphasizes teamwork, empathy, and attention to detail, with a 6:45pm–7:15am night schedule after orientation and a path to growth within the HCA network.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • 1+ years of experience in an acute care setting preferred.
  • Kansas CNA license or completion of HCA PCT Essentials training required.
  • BCLS certification required upon hire.
  • Must complete PCT Orientation (2 weeks) before 12-hour shifts.

Responsibilities

  • Assisting with patient preparation, mobility, transfers, and comfort.
  • Providing non-medicated care such as dressing changes and skin protection.
  • Keeping patient areas clean, organized, and stocked.
  • Managing supplies, equipment, and logs to support infection control.
  • Communicating with patients, families, and care team to support safety and quality.
  • Full-time NIGHT Schedule: 6:45pm-7:15am; 3 12-hour shifts after orientation.

Job Summary and Qualifications

As a Patient Care Technician (PCT), you will be a vital part of our collaborative nursing team, supporting Registered Nurses in providing hands-on care and helping create a safe, welcoming environment for patients. You'll assist with daily needs such as vital signs, mobility, and personal care, while helping RNs monitor conditions and carry out care plans. Your attention, empathy, and teamwork help restore comfort and dignity for every patient you serve and make our mission to improve lives a reality each day.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Assisting with patient preparation, mobility, transfers, and comfort to support smooth care and recovery

  • Providing non-medicated care such as dressing changes, skin protection, and use of supportive devices

  • Keeping patient areas and common spaces clean, organized, and stocked to maintain safety and efficiency

  • Managing supplies, equipment, and logs to support infection control and team readiness

  • Communicating kindly with patients, families, and the care team to support safety and quality

  • Full-time NIGHT Schedule: 6:45p-7:15a; 3 12-hr shifts following completion of PCT Orientation

What qualifications you will need:

  • A minimum of a High school diploma or GED required.

  • 1+ years of experience in an acute care setting, Preferred.

  • Kansas Certified Nursing Assistant License required or completion of the HCA Patient Care Tech Essentials training.

  • BCLS certification required upon hire.

  • Must be able to complete PCT Orientation (2 full weeks, Monday - Friday 8am - 5pm before transitioning to 12-hr shifts on floor). October start dates.
