Job summary

Allegheny Health Network seeks a patient care assistant to support direct patient care on the inpatient unit. You will assist with ADLs, vital signs, specimen collection, and standard nursing tasks under RN supervision.

The role requires a high school diploma, 1 year in a clinical setting or nursing program, basic computer skills, phlebotomy and catheterization proficiency, CPR, and necessary background clearances. Strong teamwork is essential.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• 1 year of experience in an acute or long-term care facility or enrollment in nursing program.
• Basic computer skills are required.
• Proficiency in phlebotomy and straight catheterization.
• CPR certification (American Heart Association) required.
• Act 34, Act 33, and Act 73 clearances required.

Responsibilities

• Provide and document direct patient care including ADLs, vital signs, glucose monitoring, and specimen collection.
• Assist with patient admissions, discharges, and transfers; support unit coordination.
• Document care in the EMR; communicate changes to nursing staff.
• Assist with quality and patient satisfaction initiatives and maintain a clean, safe environment.
