Job summary

Allegheny Health Network is seeking a patient care associate to provide direct patient care under RN supervision on the inpatient unit. Responsibilities include assisting with activities of daily living, vital signs, mobility, specimen collection, and documentation in the electronic medical record.

Requires at least a high school diploma, enrollment in ASN/BSN program preferred, basic math and computer skills, and CPR certification. Training provided; opportunity to advance nursing education.

Qualifications

• Minimum High School Diploma or GED.
• Ability to read, write and follow oral and written instructions.
• Ability to perform basic mathematics.
• Basic computer skills.
• Preferred acute care experience within last 3 years.
• Currently enrolled in ASN or BSN program.
• Preference given to those in nursing degree programs with at least one clinical rotation.

Responsibilities

• Provides and documents direct patient care and activities of daily living.
• Performs vital signs, assist with ambulation and mobility.
• Assists with specimen collection, intake/output, and monitoring.
• Maintains patient environment, patient safety and infection control.
• Documents care in the electronic medical record and communicates changes to RN.
