Job summary

Allegheny Health Network is seeking a Patient Care Technician to provide direct patient care and support the nursing team in an inpatient setting in Pittsburgh. You will assist with basic nursing procedures, monitor vitals, collect specimens, perform phlebotomy when needed, and document in the electronic medical record under supervision.

The role requires completing a nursing program, high school diploma or GED, and knowledge of patient privacy and safety standards.

Qualifications

• High School or GED required with nursing program enrollment preferred.
• Experience with phlebotomy and basic nursing procedures is expected.
• Proficiency in documenting patient care in EMR systems.
• Ability to manage time effectively in a fast-paced inpatient unit.

Responsibilities

• Provides direct patient care and assists RN with acute and stable patients.
• Performs vital signs, EKGs, specimen collection, glucose testing, and other basic duties.
• Documents care in EMR and reports changes to nursing staff.
• Maintains patient safety, privacy, and cleanliness per HIPAA and policies.
• Participates in care coordination during admissions, transfers and discharges.
