Job summary

Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) is seeking a Patient Care Technician II who will work under the supervision of a Registered Nurse to perform multi-skilled patient care activities and support a patient-centered approach. Responsibilities include assisting with care coordination and maintaining BLS compliance.

The role requires relevant patient care experience, BLS certification, and the ability to perform physically demanding tasks in a hospital setting.

Qualifications

• Minimum Requirements: At least 1 year work experience in a .6fte PCT I position at MUSC CHS or 1 year of patient care work experience in a health care facility; or a college degree, or active enrollment in nursing school with completion of Nursing Fundamentals from an accredited institution; or active enrollment in a healthcare related field from an accredited institution; or a Nursing Assistant or Medical Assistant, or equivalent training.
• Credentials: Basic Life Support required within 2 weeks of hire. Thereafter, must maintain.
• Physical and Mental Requirements: See lengthy list for lifting, standing, bending, and other physical demands.

Responsibilities

• Under direct supervision of a Registered Nurse, performs multi-skilled patient care activities to support a patient-centered approach and achieve outcomes.
• Reports to the Nurse Manager and assists in care coordination and essential nursing tasks.
• Maintains safety and adherence to BLS guidelines and facility policies.
