Job summary

The Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) is seeking a Patient Care Tech II to support a decentralized, patient-centered care delivery model under the supervision of a Registered Nurse and the Nurse Manager. The role emphasizes multi-skilled tasks to help achieve patient care outcomes and maintain quality standards.

Responsibilities include assisting with direct patient care, equipment and supply management, and adherence to safety protocols.

Qualifications

• A high school diploma or equivalent (GED) required. One year of patient care work experience in a health care facility, Certified Nursing Assistant, EMT or Paramedic certification, Bachelor’s Degree or enrollment in a healthcare related program with successful completion of a Nursing Assistant, Medical Assistant, or Nursing Fundamentals course at an accredited institution or equivalent training preferred.
• Basic Life Support required within 2 weeks of hire. Thereafter, must maintain Current Basic Life Support (BLS), either a certification from an American Heart Association (AHA) BLS for Healthcare Providers (or AHA recognized equivalent) or an American Red Cross CPR/AED for Professional Rescuer and Healthcare Provider.

Responsibilities

• Under direct supervision of a Registered Nurse, performs multi-skilled activities to support a decentralized patient-centered approach to patient care and achieve desired outcomes.
• The PCT II reports to the Nurse Manager and supports patient care delivery through supervision of nursing staff and coordination of activities.
• Assists with basic patient care tasks as assigned and adheres to safety and infection control guidelines.
