Job Summary

The Patient Care Technician (PCT) II performs patient care activities, including identifying and responding to abnormal findings, escalating changes in the patient’s condition to the nurse, and assisting with activities of daily living (ADLs). The PCT II provides assistance with patient elimination, hygiene, comfort, safety, nutrition, and activity, practicing patient and family-centered care. This role typically reports to the Unit Manager.

Job Description

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• Education: None required
• Licenses/Certifications: Certified in Basic Life Support issued by (AHA) American Heart Association within 90 days of employment
• Experience / Knowledge / Skills: No experience required. All necessary training on PCT Core Competencies will be provided by Memorial Hermann.

Principal Accountabilities

• Provides direct patient care under the supervision of a licensed nurse, including vital signs, hygiene, toileting, mobility, nutrition support, bathing, charting, and other ADLs.
• Accurately documents patient information and reports changes or findings to the nurse.
• Maintains a safe and clean environment, following safety protocols and organizational policies.
• Develops knowledge of patient care processes and hospital operations, integrating into unit-based teams.
• Participates in professional governance and team activities.
• Ensures safe care for patients, staff, and visitors, adhering to policies, procedures, and standards within budget and time constraints.
• Supports professional growth through mandatory and ongoing education, contributing to department and organizational goals.
• Creates compassionate and personalized patient experiences, modeling Memorial Hermann’s service standards.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
