Job summary

Highmark Health seeks a Patient Care Assistant to provide direct patient care and assist with unit coordination on the inpatient floor. Under RN supervision, you perform basic nursing procedures, monitor vitals, assist with activities of daily living, and help with admissions, discharges and transfers.

Qualifications include High School/GED, 1 year in acute or long-term care, CPR, and proficiency in phlebotomy and catheterization, plus basic computer skills and HIPAA awareness.

Qualifications

• High School/GED required or equivalent.
• 1 year in an acute or long-term care facility or enrolled in an ASN/ BSN program.
• Basic computer skills and HIPAA awareness.
• Proficient in phlebotomy and straight catheterization.

Responsibilities

• Provides, obtains or performs and documents direct patient care and activities.
• Participates in safety and satisfaction initiatives and rounds.
• Records vital signs, I&O, weights and treatments accurately.
• Supports unit activities such as supply stocking and equipment cleaning.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
