Job summary

Allegheny Health Network is seeking a patient care associate to provide direct patient care and assist with non-direct patient care unit coordination. The incumbent helps RNs care for stable patients and assists with acutely ill patients, practicing medical asepsis, and documenting care in the EMR.

Responsibilities include assisting with activities of daily living, vital signs, ambulation, specimen collection, and ensuring a clean and safe environment.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Ability to read, write and follow oral and written instructions.
• CPR – American Heart Association required.
• Act 34/33/73 background clearances required.

Responsibilities

• Provides, obtains or performs and documents direct patient care and activities such as activities of daily living, vitals, ambulation, specimen collection, intake and output, and documenting O2 and other treatments.
• Participates in quality and patient satisfaction initiatives including bedside shift report and hourly rounding to promote safety and a clean environment.
• Accurately documents vital signs, weights, I\&O, restraints and all treatments; reports changes to nursing staff.
• Participates in unit activities such as stock checks and equipment cleaning and organization.
• Performs other duties as assigned or required.
